Gathr is a project of Social Good Fund, a California nonprofit corporation and registered 501(c)(3). This policy applies to our website and app.
Information we collect
The information we receive depends on how you use Gathr. It may include:
- Account information: details you provide to create or manage an account, such as your name, email address, profile details, and sign-in information.
- Community activity and content: information you submit or share, such as projects, events, volunteer interests, messages, and other content.
- Giving and payment details: donation or transaction details needed to facilitate a contribution. Payment credentials are handled by the payment provider you choose and are not stored by Gathr unless expressly stated in the relevant flow.
- Device and usage information: app version, device and operating system information, approximate network information, and interactions with our services. This may be collected by us or service providers supporting the app.
- Support communications: information you include when you contact us, including your email address and the contents of your request.
Some information is required to provide a requested feature. If you choose not to provide it, that feature may not be available.
How we use information
We use information to provide and operate Gathr; create and secure accounts; connect people with community projects; process or record giving activity; respond to support requests; maintain, troubleshoot, and improve our services; prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents; and meet legal obligations. We may also use your contact details to send service-related notices. We’ll ask for consent where applicable law requires it for other communications.
How information is shared
We do not sell personal information. We may share information:
- with hosting, authentication, analytics, payment, communications, and other service providers that help us operate Gathr, under appropriate safeguards;
- with a community or nonprofit you choose to engage with, to support the activity you requested;
- when you choose to make information or activity visible to other users;
- to protect users, enforce our terms, investigate suspected wrongdoing, or comply with law; and
- in connection with a reorganization or transfer of the service, subject to applicable privacy protections.
Third-party services have their own privacy practices. Review their notices when you use their services or follow a link from Gathr.
Retention and security
We keep information for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain your account, meet legal and financial recordkeeping requirements, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Retention periods depend on the type of information and why it was collected. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards, but no method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
Your choices and account deletion
To request deletion of your Gathr account and associated personal data, email support@gathr.gives from the address associated with your account and include “Gathr account deletion request” in the subject. You do not need to reinstall the app to make this request. We may need to verify your identity. We will delete or de-identify associated data unless we must retain specific records for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or financial recordkeeping purposes; any retained records will be kept only as long as needed for those purposes. Deleting your Gathr account may not delete information already shared with a recipient or held by an independent third-party service. For access or correction requests, use the same support address.

Children’s privacy
Gathr is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us so we can review and take appropriate steps.
International users
Your information may be processed in countries other than the one where you live, where we or our service providers operate. Those countries may have different data protection laws. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
